Treatment That Won’t Disrupt Your Life

Straighter Smiles the Modern Way

At Meyer & Dana Orthodontics, adults and teens can get a great smile without a treatment that gets in the way of their daily lives. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know that you’re straightening your teeth.

Spark aligners take a modern approach to aligning teeth. These systems use a series of custom-made aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable, and nearly invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth.

There are no metal brackets or wires that could cause irritation to your mouth, an advantage over traditional braces. Plus, since your office visits during treatment don't involve metal or wire adjustments, you'll likely spend less time in the doctor's chair

Spark aligners move your teeth through the appropriate placement of controlled force. Unlike braces, clear aligners control both the force and the timing of the force application.

During each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move. These movements are determined by your doctor as we map out your unique  treatment plan.

This nearly-invisible option to straighten your teeth is truly changing the way people see orthodontic treatment throughout South Dakota.

The Clear Aligner Process

Clear aligners are much more comfortable than traditional metal bracket braces and can give you stunning results.

More than 2 million patients worldwide have been treated. The number of smiles grows every day in the Black Hills.

The Spark system uses a series of customized, clear aligners to gradually straighten your teeth, meaning fewer office visits to our South Dakota offices than traditional braces. They’re removable, near-invisible, and customized by your doctor specifically for your teeth and mouth.

Spark aligners are made with TruGEN™, the latest innovation in clear aligner material. As compared to the leading aligner brand, Spark aligners are more clear, more comfortable, stain less and designed for more efficient and effective tooth movement.

When you come to Meyer & Dana Orthodontics for your free consultation at one of our five conveniently located offices, we'll take photos and X-rays to create a 3D image of your mouth. Your doctor will make your first set of custom-fitted aligners from these images and then you begin the process of straightening your teeth.

You’ll probably wear your clear aligners for 9–15 months, and will typically use 18–30 sets during your treatment at Meyer & Dana Orthodontics.

You’ll wear the trays for about 22 hours a day as recommended by your doctor but can remove them to brush your teeth and eat. Based on your individual needs, you’ll wear several sets of trays throughout your orthodontic treatment at Meyer & Dana Orthodontics. You’ll even start to notice a change in just a few months!

No Goopy Impressions With Our Digital Scanner

Meyer & Dana Orthodontics is a digital impression practice and a proud owner of an iTero® Element™ intraoral scanner.

The iTero Element Scanner is a state-of-the-art digital impression system that eliminates the need for messy putty in your mouth. With our iTero Element Scanner, we can digitally capture a detailed 3D model of your teeth and gums.

  • No goop or gag to worry about
  • Fast, accurate impression
  • Ideal for crowns, bridges, implants, clear aligners and retainers
  • See a simulation of your potential Invisalign treatment results

The scanner gives us a 3D model of your mouth that can be used for your dental services including the Invisalign Outcome Simulator to show you what your new smile might look like.

Our doctors have years of experience treating people with clear aligners, and we’re excited to offer this technology to our braces patients in Rapid City, Spearfish, and Pierre.

Aligner Responsibility

When it comes to treatment with clear aligners, there’s a lot to consider. Most patients wearing Invisalign or Spark at Meyer & Dana Orthodontics enjoy shorter check-ups, fewer appointments, better oral hygiene, and fewer emergency visits.

Even though you have the ability to remove the aligners, your cooperation is essential, whether you have braces or clear aligners.

Like with traditional braces, you’ll generally need to wear a retainer after Invisalign treatment, as recommended by your orthodontist.

Thankfully, at Meyer & Dana Orthodontics, we’ll give you retainers for life to help you maintain your new alignment—and your confident new smile.
